We go on a journey to leave ourselves behind

“The soul of a journey is liberty, perfect liberty, to think, feel, do just as one pleases. We go a journey chiefly to be free of all impediments and of all inconveniences; to leave ourselves behind, much more to get rid of others.”
–William Hazlitt, “On Going on a Journey” (1822)

Lovely sentiment! Doesn’t quite work when you travel with your child/ren though 🙂

Great quote! Traveling is one way to “cleanse the soul” and rid yourself of that which is not working in your life. When you return, you may find it’s time to ‘release’ others from your life, even family members. This may seem extreme, but why stay around toxic people who can do more harm than good?
