Special April 2010 fares for multi-stop tickets on BootsnAll

With only a couple of months to go until kick-off of the first games in the 2010 World Cup tournament, the footy fanatics in the BootsnAll office are almost literally salivating over the countdown. Two of my colleagues will be in South Africa for the duration of the games, and luckily they made their travel arrangements more than a year ago - because there just aren't many World Cup travel deals to be found anymore.

But what if you're not a soccer fan and couldn't really care less about the World Cup? What if you'll be light years away from South Africa this June and July in the midst of your own RTW trip - do you assume the tournament won't impact you? Well, it depends on where you are.

Soccer (football to most people) is easily the most popular sport on the planet, and the World Cup is the biggest sporting event. So even if your travel plans have you somewhere far away from South Africa this summer, you might still find yourself in the midst of World Cup fever. This is especially true if you're visiting a country whose national team is representing them at the World Cup. Watching a game in a crowded bar and helping the locals cheer their team on to victory can be a great way to experience the tournament from afar.

Two of this month's RTW ticket deals include stops in countries that are competing in the World Cup - Sydney in the first one, and both Frankfurt and Cape Town in the second - but even if you choose the second itinerary (or create your own custom itinerary) and are in a place that isn't competing in the World Cup in June and July, chances are good you'll still be able to find a bar showing the games.

Here are the new special deals on multi-stop airline tickets available through BootsnAll - these deals are good through April 30, 2010:

  • Los Angeles - Sydney - Bali (Denpasar) - Singapore - surface - Bangkok - Los Angeles, from $US1199 plus taxes

  • San Francisco - Hong Kong - Bangkok - Bombay / Mumbai - Bangalore - Singapore - San Francisco, from US$1549 plus taxes

  • New York - Frankfurt - Cape Town - Kuala Lumpur - Bali (Denpasar) - Singapore - Bangkok - Hong Kong - New York, from US$1999 plus taxes

You can find out more about which teams are included in the World Cup on the World Cup Blog, and if you happen to be going to the tournament yourself here's the information you'll need about the 2010 World Cup venues in South Africa and some South Africa travel tips for the World Cup.

And if you'd like to do more to customize your RTW itinerary rather than pick one of the specials listed above, you can create your own route with our RTW travel planner.
