Mags to jog your wanderlust

Sometimes you might need some extra inspiration of places to go and things to see.  So here are some magazines to give you the urge.

  • Wend Magazine, for adventure travelers, conservation trips, and the wandering lifestyle.

  • Wanderlust, a British magazine devoted to picking up and moving around.  They have a very useful "Job Shop" section, mostly for adventure guiding or tours.

  • Outpost, a Canadian magazine mostly given over to adventure tours, but with some interesting destination ideas.  Plus the added advantage of being the first magazine that doesn't start with "W."

  • Verge, another Canadian publication devoted to "travel with a purpose."  Want to volunteer, work, or study something while you're on the road?  Verge can help you find it.

  • Journeywoman, a slightly granola magazine for women about traveling, permanent or otherwise.  Great community-based tips sections.

  • Brave New Traveler, an offshoot of the old favorite, Matador.  BNT is designed for the "modern" traveler, while Matador relies mostly on writing and photography.  Both are great resources with multiple useful links.
