Balancing fortune and fulfillment

An element of vagabonding successfully is balancing fortune and fulfillment. Well, I guess the scale is tipped more towards fulfillment, but the definition of “fortune” is relative and varies from person to person/situation to situation.

I think many of us who are vagabonds, or who read Vagablogging, are looking to find that balance by fulfilling your travel dreams and not becoming broke in the process.

Perhaps some of you have found that balance and are looking to maintain it, and for you my friends, here’s a competition that you might be interested in.

From Get Rich Slowly (yes, I read many blogs like this): The guys at Soul Shelter are running a competition with $2000 in prizes for people who share the best “balancing fortune and fulfillment” stories. From their website:

“All entries must be nonfiction and 400-1,500 words in length. Essays should tell a true story based on the author’s personal experience and relating to the Soul Shelter theme of “balancing fortune and fulfillment, or getting a living while having a life.” We’re interested in personal, affecting, and inspiring entries more than slick writing. There are no entry fees, and there will be no future attempts to sell or market anything to entrants.”

For those who don’t have such stories (yet!), I’m sure it will be interesting and inspiring to read what gets published.
