Got a great photo of New Year’s the last time you were in Asia? Well, dust it off and submit to the Asia Welcomes 2010 Photo Contest. It’s sponsored by the Asia Society, a nonprofit organization working to strengthen links between the United States and Asia.

The contest will accept any photos taken between 2000 and 2010, so the field is wide open to entries. The photo doesn’t have to be taken in Asia either, it just has to have an Asian theme. Any great pictures from your local Chinatown or Japantown would be fully eligible.

Although fireworks make for flashy photos, the Asia society says it welcomes a variety of subjects. Decorations, people, food, traditions, etc. are all excellent themes as well. Feel free to dig deep into your albums to find that perfect shot.

The winners will get their photos displayed on the Asia Society’s website. They will most likely be widely seen by scholars, diplomats, and fellow Asia aficionados who follow news from that area.

The Asia Society’s website itself is well worth checking out. There is a wealth of information about all aspects of Asia, from news to culture to background information about various countries. Whether you’re a fan of Asian culture or planning a trip to that region, the society’s website is an outstanding resource.

Thanks for the information. The contest has very flexible “terms” which is highly unusual for a contest. It’s a great way for travel writers and travel photographers to get exposure. You never know who will see your photo.
