Budget Airlines in Europe

PiggyBank

After two months of living in Asia, I’m finally starting to feel settled. My mind is no longer preoccupied with the endless details of moving to another country, and I can finally get down to business and start asking the important questions. Is there a doctor’s office close to where I live or work? What is the system for recycling? Where can I register for internet? And most importantly, what are the budget airlines that service my area?

It can be tough sorting out budget travel providers when you move to a new area. These airlines don’t have huge budgets for advertising, and often information is passed by word of mouth among travelers. It’s exciting to plan potential trips to seemingly endless enticing destinations, but I have to admit I am spending a lot of time online trying to sort out these airlines and their various restrictions and destinations.

So while I try to sort out carriers in Asia, I thought I’d pass on a list of budget airlines I compiled while living in Europe.

Ryanair – Perhaps the best known budget carrier in Europe, providing fares for as little as 10 Euros round trip if you book well enough in advance.

Wizz Air – Wizz Air runs regular deals for around 25 Euros. Book early and find fares to all destinations starting at little more than this.

EasyJet – Here you’ll find great destinations starting at well under 100 Euros round-trip.

These three providers service a large number of destinations throughout Europe, and even a few in Morocco and Egypt. However, if you’re still unable to find that specific flight or deal, here is an exhaustive list to help you:

Transavia
FlyBe
GermanWings
Vueling
Monarch
Smart Wings
Belle Air
JetAirfly
Aigle Azur
Blue Air
Meridiana

With airlines like these it’s important to remember to read every detail of your flight information. These carriers sometimes make up for the low ticket price with hidden baggage and check in fees.

Thanks for these great budget airlines. Most people are tightening their belts. Saving on airfare is a tremendous help. This way you can still travel and not worry about how much you’re paying for airfare.
