Why We Travel Slideshow

An oasis in Indonesia

An oasis in Tunisia

The New York Times has a great photo slideshow called Why We Travel 2008.  It’s a collection of stunning photos with fun-to-read anecdotes. A perfect antidote for those who are currently not on the road (but long to get back on it!).

The stories range from the touching, like a woman who taught impoverished children in India, to the funny, an American talking about the people she would not invite on a hike again.

Through their words, you really get a feel for the personalities of these intrepid souls and the unique reasons that drive them to travel.

The Beautiful picture of Tunisia reminds me of my tour to Tunisia last Year. We stayed in Port el Kantoui and had a fantastic holiday. The beaches are clean, theres places to visit close by and the Port itself has a relaxed atmosphere and you can take any amount of boat trips. We went all inclusive so only ate out once, prices seemed reasonable. The transfer in to resort is about half and hour so that is another bonus. The weather was great sun everyday and it was getting hotter day by day.
