Vagabonding hits Korean bookstores

[The cover for the Korean translation of Vagabonding.]

A recent slew of emails from Korean readers has tipped me off to the fact that a translated edition of Vagabonding has debuted in Korea. Published by Nexus Books, the Korean title of the book is Ddeo-nago Ship-ul Ddae, Ddeo-nala (which, if my rusty Korean serves me correctly, means “If you want to leave, leave”). My name phoenetically transliterates into a moniker that sounds something like: “Roll-puh Po-tchuh”. Paperback copies cost 9000 won (about $8.75), and can be bought from online bookstores such as Aladdin.co.kr and Libro.co.kr.

I’ve noticed that the Seoul Shinmoon has published a review of the book, but I’m afraid my Korean skills aren’t good enough to translate it. I’ve currently assigned some Korean friends to the task of letting me know what the major Korean daily thinks Vagabonding!

hi, i’m your korean reader who tipped you about this book. thank you for your kind response. ( there might be too much letters from various country, do you usually respond those each one?? if so, you deserve to be a great writer!! ^^;;) now find the 서울신문 review. although my english is not good to translate it exactly, well, to summarize it, they recommend your book , as to say , to be a vagabonder.

introducing your words in the book, they regarded your book as one code to live our lives.

[코드로 읽는책] 떠나고 싶을때 떠나라/롤프 포츠 지음

여행의 매력은 자유다. 톱니바퀴처럼 맞물려 돌아가는 일상을 벗어남으로써 또 다른 삶의 방식을 느껴보는 것이다. 한데 막상 여행을 떠나면 마치 시간에 굶주린 듯 일정에 쫓기며 뜀박질을 하기 마련이다. 돌아와선 어김없이

Jook-Ha-Hahmnee-Dah Rolf. That’s pretty sweet. I’ll try to get my wife to read the review and give you her read on it.
