Tipping when you travel

“So do I leave a tip?”, “Is that enough for a tip?”, surely you have asked these questions every time you eat, or have a drink when you travel. And, from what I remember, no-one really gives you a proper answer!

Although you might think that the bar tender/waiter/porter is probably never going to see you again so it doesn’t matter, tipping is an important part of the culture of the place you visit.

I’m personally not too fussed about tipping, but I do like to leave some appreciation if deserved and never know how much is good enough without going over the top, or looking like a cheapskate.

So for those of you who’d like to know how much to tip whom around the world — here’s a great article from Travelhacker that gives you 51 tips from 26 places around the world (someone very kindly added a section on tipping in America!).
