The best part of coming home

As we prepare for travel it is easy to get caught up in all of the new and beautiful things we will see and experience. It can be enticing to daydream about new foods, the sound of foreign languages, navigating new cities or means of transportation, or gazing at profound shrines or sights around the world. Other times, the nature of some trips have us looking forward to simpler things, like getting away from our typical schedules for a time, or just lazing on a beach with little other objective for a while. A lot of the time, the dreamy anticipation of these things can keep us going through a boring or grueling schedule until we can finally hit the road.

But what about the things we anticipate coming back to after a stint on the road? What are the things that you look forward to having or doing again that are a part of your off the road life. Sometimes it can be large things, like a lover, or a rewarding career or hobby. Maybe it is the small things, like having clean water at the twist of the tap, or your large decadent bed to sleep in every night. For you, what are the best parts of coming home?

Besides my decadent bed, I look forward to placing all my photos and journal entries in a blog and scrapbook to relive my journey. And the next best thing? Planning my next trip!

I’m still green and I haven’t been out of the United States yet, but one of the biggest things I anticipate is reuniting with my dog. I always take him on a long walk after I’ve been gone for a while. Im not sure who enjoys it more, him or me. And sitting around being lazy with the family.

Our kitty and coming home to our clean apartment. We always make sure everything is clean and organized when we leave. If any clutter has built up before a trip, it is dealt with before our departure. This way when we get back, it is an easier transition back to the “grind,” and it makes it easy to find the perfect spot to display any memento we may have picked up on our trip.

Do passengers still cheer when the plane touches down? This always seemed to me a uniquely American thing.

I look forward to three things in no particular order.

    – My bed- Reuniting with my bed is one of the best experiences I’ve had. I usually end up the best sleep of my life because it’s the first time I’ve felt complete comfort in a while.

Friends & Family- Every time i travel, i seem to value them more and more. Travel truly gives you an appreciation for what you have.

the air. ( this may seem weird)- I always miss the smells of my hometown.

    – on a side note- when i touch down back home, i immediately start thinking about when my next trip is going to be and what I’m going to do differently.

My friends for sure. Some changed and some are still struggling with the same situations… It`s always a celebration when we meet again after my long trips; we have so much to say. Reconnecting with the artistic culture is definitly excitng for me; Montreal artists are so deep and they are everywhere!
