Summer Events: Love Parade

Love Parade

For travelers who save up their vagabonding days to follow festivals like Burning Man and Coachella, Love Parade might just be for you. The festival started in the late 1980s and has since grown to epic proportions. This massive party takes place every summer in a new location in Germany.

The parade originated as a demonstration for peace, but has since morphed into a liberal celebration of tolerance, acceptance, and community, all rooted in an intense love for dance music. Make the pilgrimage to listen to DJs, see acrobats and performance art, get that tattoo you’ve always wanted, or just dance away the weekend.

Travelers are known to flock to this event from far and wide, and it’s not unlikely to see the same faces making the trip year after year. To tide over Love Parade aficionados until next year, like the smaller Burning Man-inspired winterburn, Love Parade inspired events have sprung up in countless cities across 4 continents.

This year’s Love Parade will be in Duisberg, Germany, and is said to be taking place in late July. The event’s official site (in German) is currently under construction, to be updated by the end of the month.
