Pico Iyer’s new book out

A couple of months ago Allison talked about Pico Iyer’s new book The Open Road: The Global Journey of the fourteenth Dalai Lama — the book is now available for sale.

I’ve always enjoyed Pico Iyer’s writing and feel some affinity towards him because of his Indian roots. Also, although not at all religious, there are many aspects of Buddhism I am drawn to — primarily its simplicity and straightforward approach to the way you live and outlook on the world.

Iyer has been in contact with the Dalai Lama for the last 30-years; the book took him 5-years to write and I have no doubt it will give profound and honest insight into the Dalai Lama’s life and the way he functions, from Iyer’s perspective. I can’t wait to get my hands on it!

For those who would like some teasers on the book: World Hum recently published a Q&A with Iyer on his new book, and the cover story this week in Europe’s edition of Time Magazine is a report on the Dalai Lama, also by Pico Iyer.

Happy reading!
