Photo contests: Glimpse and National Geographic Adventure

Travelers with an eye for composition and a knack with the camera have a chance to share their pics, and pick up a few perks. Two chances actually—contests are currently running through Glimpse and National Geographic Adventure.

I wrote about Glimpse’s annual writing contest last fall, but now it’s time for their annual photo contest. The deadline is coming up quickly: next Monday, April 14.

Maybe you’ve crossed paths with some unusual or charismatic entertainers on your travels? That’s the theme of this year’s competition: performers.

The first place winner will get a $500 travel credit voucher from Travelosophy, and see the winning photo on the cover of Glimpse’s 2009 calendar. Runners-up will also get their photos in the calendar, though not on the cover.

And National Geographic Adventure is running a “Life’s an Adventure” photography contest. You have a bit more time for this one—the deadline isn’t until Friday, May 2.

Photos will be judged on relevance to “adventure travel,” photo quality, tips for fellow travelers, and a short photo description.

The winner and runners-up will pick up Marmot jackets, plus the chance to be published in the magazine.

For a better idea of the competition and the types of photos the magazines are looking for, check out last year’s winners on the Glimpse and National Geographic Adventure websites.

Good luck!
