Is travel your work (even if not officially)?

After all the time and attention we devote to travel, it seems that we travelers have a good foundation for joining the travel industry. I’m curious to ask today — do you work in travel? What do you do? How did you get started?

Even if your work isn’t an obvious travel gig, let us know whether and how you see your work through the lens of travel. For example, a field sales rep who’s in it for the time alone on the road. A New York banker with an eye on a transfer to Hong Kong two years from now. A project manager who jumped at the chance to do a contract in Bangalore. A compass-maker, travel clothing outfitter, or helicopter mechanic. Lighthouse keeper. Soldier.

How have your travels made you better at your work, whatever it is? How often do you find time to travel on your own terms?

I don’t have a full on travel gig but traveling and working (online) has made me more focused with my ‘online time’.

When you’re paying for your mobile broadband internet you really can’t sit around watching stupid cat videos on youtube instead of working…

Travel is not my full time job…not yet. My ultimate dream is to have my own adventure travel company to specialize not only in Washington state, but in Russia, and later around the world.
So far, it’s been hard for me to make money doing what I love, but thanks to my blog, I already managed to sample a few jobs in adventure travel industry, along with many other perks ( free trips, gear…).
