Hunter S. Thompson on traveling into the unknown

“With the palms zipping past and the big sun burning down on the road ahead, I had a flash of something I hadn’t felt since my first months in Europe. A mixture of ignorance, and a loose, what-the-hell kind of confidence that comes when a man picks up and begins to move in a hard, straight line toward an unknown horizon.”
–Hunter S. Thompson, The Rum Diary (1998)

Buy the book, i had a simular experience. I met a beautiful puerto rican woman in Ft. Lauderdale Fl., We fell in love and the next thing i knew i was driving a Mustang up a mountain to my right, with the open ocean waiting for me to slip up., i passed the test despite several coors lights….Pueto rico is a land where you can go and be yourself and not be judged, i love my beautiful wife.. read the Rum Diary.

It can be a hot nasty place with dive bombers coming at you from all angles. By that i mean drivers, suicide maniacs too far gone on some island hootch or wicked rum. But damm if the place dosen’t grow on ya, i been sucked in over a hundred times now and the women just keep getting better ass’s every trip. Where else can a man go for an ice cold beer at a buck a can and drift off without anyone caring or asking, ” So what do you do?” Puerto Rico drives me mad with drink and lust but i just want more…
