How many of the 192 United Nations members can you name?

Ten minutes. Name the 192 United Nations members. Go!

A quiz making the internet rounds (from a Linux programmer named Andy’s webpage) pits players against a clock to name all the United Nations member nations in 10 minutes or less.

The biggest challenge is spelling every country correctly, since the program will not recognize a country unless it is spelled exactly right. Even the most geographically gifted player will fail to earn a perfect score if they have trouble with the correct “l” and “p” sequence in “Philippines”.

However, after the 10 minutes have expired, all the missed countries will appear, reminding a player of countries from those they never knew existed to those they might have even visited (oops).

Personally, I never knew that Kiribati and the Solomon Islands were countries. So there are two nations to start with. Only 190 to go!

These is a similar game for naming the 50 United States, a good way to finally put those alphabetical state songs from grade school to use.
