William Gibson is neglecting his book tour blog, too

Well, despite having racked up eight very enjoyable Vagabonding book events on the West Coast and in the Midwest thus far, I’ll confess that my Book Tour Diary still exists primarily in rough-note form on various pieces of paper. Since the book tour was one of the primary reasons I set up this blog, I’d reckon I should probably be feeling guilty for not yet posting any of my USA road stories.

Fortunately, Andie Miller of South Africa alerted me to the fact that I am in good company: Apparently, sci-fi writing icon William Gibson (whose USA book tour is hitting many of the same stops as mine) has also confessed to underachievement in his book tour weblog. "…I spend all my time either out signing stock, in my room doing phone interviews, at readings/signings, or travelling between same." he writes. "Sorry I'm not able to post more frequently, but I seem to be just too 20th-century an entity to simultaneously maintain virtual presence and be on the road meeting live humans."

Believe me, I can relate -- as a heavy schedule of book events and media interviews (and, more importantly, catching up with old and new friends) has left me with little time to post more than the requisite Travel Quote of the Day. I still plan on getting the tour diary up to speed, however, so keep an eye out for my serialized, not-quite-live-as-it-happens road chronicle to debut sometime next week…
